Content Coordinators
Unlike traditional Major Performing Arts festivals, which are programmed in a more-or-less dictatorial way by an Artistic Director appointed by an unelected Board (e.g. the Queensland Music Festival, the Brisbane Festival), SOOB is instead programmed by a community of artistic peers.
This means we don't have to suffer under an Artistic Director whose main job seems to be getting into the arts section of the newspaper - instead, a community of artists help to decide what goes into the program.
Each year, SOOB appoints a large and diverse group of Content Coordinators across a range of artistic and intellectual disciplines to enable us to curate the broadest and more professionally relevant program possible.
Straight Out of Brisbane has now met with and unofficially appointed most of our content coordinators for 2004. We will shortly be announcing who they are and providing contact details for people interested in joining the various content committees in each artform.
