Locative media utilizes the GPS (global positioning systems) to match artworks, stories, movie clips or sounds to specific places via their latitude and longitude readings. For example, one could write a story about an empty factory and then with a portable device others would read the story while standing inside the factory. Or a sound artist could create a series of sounds, that when retrieved on a portable device at a certain location would compliment the ambient sound of the landscape. Artists from all backgrounds are invited to help generate ideas for the use of Locative artworks.
